As International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed all over the world, in Tripura BSF Battalions deployed on the border took out cycle and motorcycle rallies in the bordering areas on Wednesday.

The initiative was to come forward and take necessary steps to create awareness amongst people specially the youths in prevention of drug abuse and its illicit trafficking.
“In order to have Tripura, a drug free-state, BSF has developed deep rooted intelligence network and a large number to cases related to the drugs smuggling were unearthed,” said Ashok Kr Yadav, DIG BSF, Tripura frontier.
In last three years, BSF have seized 316571 numbers of Yaba tablets, 374.70 quintals of ganja, 367140 bottles of Phensedyl and one kg of heroin.
International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed and is as an expression of determination for global community to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
Supported by individuals, communities and various organizations all over the world, this global observance aims to raise awareness towards the serious problem that the drugs present to the society.
The theme for the 2019 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is ‘Health for Justice. Justice for Health’ which emphasizes the integrated nature of the rights – and health-based approaches are highlighted in this declaration.
