Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP president of Tripura said appointment of Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as the election in-charge of the state would ensure a “glorious victory” for the party in Left Front ruled Tripura.
“Your highly skilled vast experience will definitely help us achieve a glorious victory with full majority,” Deb said in his Tweeter message congratulating Sarma. The Assam minister was appointed as election in-charge of Tripura on Saturday.

Deb’s message said, “The battle-cry Cholo Paltai is already echoing throughout the state, and with Himanta Biswa Sarma appointed in-charge. With Sarma at the helm the campaign for Tripura will reach a different level.”
Sarma, a Congress-turned BJP leader, had played a pro-active role in making the lotus bloom in Assam during the assembly election in 2016. “It will be our collective endeavour to install a BJP government in Tripura,” Sarma said in his tweet. He is also the chairman of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).
Registering an electoral victory for the BJP in Tripura will be an acid test for Sarma as BJP’s election strategist. At present, the BJP does not have a single MLA in the 60-member assembly in Tripura. The Left Front has 50 members in the house.
