Tripura: Assam Rifles, police detain miscreant, contraband drugs seized

Jawans of 29 Assam Rifles and Dharmanagar Police in Tripura detained one Biplab Nath on Friday for possessing contraband drugs.

The detained person identified as one Biplab Nath, aged around 28 years and son of one Swapan Nath is a resident of Kalikapur Village under Juvarajnagar block.

Acting on a tip off, 29 Assam Rifles commandant Anuyar Rahman along with Dharmanagar Police officer Rajiv Sutradhar conducted a raid and detained Biplab Nath with a consignment of brown sugar.

Another drug peddler who was there with Biplab managed to escape from the spot.

The force has also conducted a raid inside the house of Biplab Nath. During the raid, they have recovered a total of 13 gram brown sugar from two containers. They have also seized the bag used for smuggling the contraband items.

Meanwhile, followed by the medical test of Biplab at North District hospital a case is also being filed under NDPS Act.

Further investigation is underway.
