Along with the rest of the country, National Doctors’ Day was also observed in Tripura capital Agartala.

The main programme was organized at the Rabindra Bhavan hall in Agartala in which state chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who also holds the Health portfolio along with two other MLAs – Dilip Das and Atul Debbarma, both doctors took part.

During the programme, senior and retired as well as plasticizing doctors were felicitated as an attempt to emphasize the value of doctors and to commemorate them.

National Doctors’ Day is celebrated on July 1 across India to honour the legendary physician and the second chief minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy who later received the country’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna for his service.

Moreover, it is observed to raise awareness about the importance of doctors and medical professionals in our life and thank them for their dedicated services to patients.
