Muslim women along with Tripura BJP Mahila Morcha members took part in a rally in Agartala on Wednesday to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for passing Triple Talaq Bill in the Parliament.

The rally started from BJP party office and went through the streets of capital Agartala.
The participants with posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb in the rally raised slogans thanking the Prime Minister for his bold step.

The rally ended in front of the chief minister’s house where the participants burned crackers to celebrate the victory of passing Triple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Later, a delegate including victims of triple talaq meet the chief minister and through him thanked Prime Minister Modi.
They also recited their story of talaq and requested the chief minister to resolve their issue besides some help so that they can lead their life with respect.
It may be mentioned here the chief minister Deb had on Tuesday in his tweet given a phone number and asked that if any victim of triple talaq wishes can direct contact with him through that number.
Later speaking to reporters, Deb said that triple talaq was an inhuman system that was continuing but should have been banned long back in the Indian democratic system but the earlier governments despite Supreme Court order against it on its majority allowed it to continue.
He added that when even in many neighboring Islamic nations triple talaq is illegal, but in India is was continuing because of vote bank politics but Prime Minister Modi has liberated the Muslim sisters from this inhuman system.
Meantime, the triple talaq victims who meet and the chief minister expressed their gratitude towards the Prime Minister and the chief minister.
Rana Aktar, a triple talaq victim said, “I was married 11 years back and have a son but was given talaq. My husband used to physically assault and abuse me for dowry. I am happy that Triple Talaq Bill has been passed. I came here to meet the Chief Minister and requested if the government help us so that we can live with respect, I also thanked him.”
Similar was the version of Lutfa Begam who also thanked Prime Minister Modi for taking this bold step.
