A torch rally was taken out at Dwarkuchi on number 127 (D) Rangia-Tamulpur-Bhutan international link road on Friday evening in protest against the gruesome murder of one Tamiz Ali on April 6 last.
The torch rally was taken out by Dwarkuchi Anchalik All Bodoland Minority Students Union (ABMSU), Dwarkuchi Anchalik All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), Dwarkuchi Anchalik Bengali Juba Satra Federation and Dwarkuchi Anchalik Kalita Jongosthi Students Union protesting the killing of Tamiz Ali (42) of Tulshibari, Kamrup.
The protesting organizations also demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in the murder of Tamiz Ali on April 6 last.
Notably, Tamiz Ali was brutally killed by some miscreants on that night and the body was thrown on the road side at Dwarkuchi.
However, the Baksa Police are yet to trace the perpetrators of the crime.
More than 1,000 activists gathered at Dwarkuchi and participated in the torch rally on Friday evening.
The activists also shouted slogans against the Assam Government and Baksa Police demanding justice and a stop to all kinds of anti-social activities of greater Dwarkuchi area.
The rally moved from Siknibari to Dwarkuchi market and returned to Siknibari.
