Three youths of Sikkim have announced their ‘Ama Chora Relay Prostration Campaign’ on March 7 and 8. Under the banner of Sikkimey Ama Ko Chora, Kunga Bhutia, Dawa Gurung and DS Limboo will be taking out a rally from Rangpo to Zero Point in Gangtok to commemorate the International Women’s Day.
However, the participants have announced to prostrate at different locations to pay their respect to the ‘Mother Earth’ during the rally.
Addressing a press conference, Bhutia and Gurung have urged the people and especially youths to be the part of this campaign as Sikkimese with their participation in the rally. He added the main objective of the rally is to spread the message of love and respect to the Mother Earth among the people.
He added that the rally also wants to show its concern on the increasing rates of suicides and drug addiction and other social issues of the State. “We have also decided to present a memorandum to the Governor to take immediate action to curb these issues of the State,” Bhutia said.
The rally will be starting from gateway of Rangpo on March 7. The participants have decided to cover the distance of Rangpo to Mazitar with prostration and followed by walking from Mazitar to Golitar and again prostration from Golitar to Government Fruits Preservation Factory, Singtam and to end the first day of the rally walking from GFPF to 9th Mile. The participants have decided to halt at 9th Mile.
On the second day, the rally will be continued from 9th Mile and participants will be walking till Ranipool Bridge and then prostration up to Organic Village and again walking from Orange Village to Holy Cross School and then will conclude their rally with prostration from Holy Cross School to Zero Point.
“This is totally an apolitical initiative, so we would like to appeal young generation to come forward to be the part of this campaign,” they said.
