At least three cadres belonging to ULFA (I) and NSCN (K) were reportedly killed in a gunfight with Army in Nagaland’s Mon district.
Indian Army’s 12 para (SF) commandos gunned the cadres on Monday around 9.30 am between Wangla and Oting village in Mon district, Nagaland Post reported.
According to the report, the para commandos laid an ambush after receiving specific inputs about movements of around six cadres along with a civilian, reportedly a guide.
The rebels suffered at least three casualties and the civilian injured in the gunfight, sources said, adding there was no casualty on the army side.
Security forces have recovered a body of the killed rebels. Two AK rifles and ammunition were also recovered from the spot.
The militants sneaked into Nagaland from Myanmar and had planned to move to Assam.
Army, however, officially has not confirmed the news. “At this point of time we are not in a position to confirm the report,” Kohima based Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwer told Northeast Now on Phone.
