Imphal: Three cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party Noyol Group (KCP-Noyol) who were indulging in ruthless extortion campaigns in the southern parts of the state were arrested, a Manipur police report said on Wednesday.
They were arrested in the joint operations conducted by the Commandos of the Kakching district police and 37 Assam Rifles at the northern portion of the Langmeidong Bridge in Kakching district during the past 24 hours, the report said.

Three mobile handsets, two demand letters with party seals, and a car used in the extortion drives were recovered from them.
The arrested persons are later identified as Laikhuram Sanatomba, alias Mani, 24, Heikrujam Dinesh, 21, and Tongbram Nganthoiba, 21.
On spot interrogation, they confessed to having been involved in extortion drives from the government offices, employees, and business communities in Thoubal and Kakching districts in the past few weeks.

The apprehended persons along with the seized items and impounded vehicle were later handed over to the Waikhong police station for further legal proceedings, the report added.
Additionally, the arrests came two days after the Assam Rifles apprehended one cadre of KCP and two activists of banned KYKL in the general area of Songtong along Indo Myanmar Border.
