As part of the three-day nationwide strike by the employees of regional rural banks of the country under the banner of United Forum of Regional Rural Banks Union (UFRRBU) and All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association (AIRRBEA), the employees of Langpi Dihangi Rural Bank (LDRB) under the banner of All Karbi Anglong Langpi Dihangi Rural Bank Employees Association (AKALDRBEA) lit candles in front of the LDRB head branch office at Diphu in Karbi Anglong on Wednesday evening.
The rural bank employees demanded withdrawal of Civil (Misc) SLP 29288/12 and extension of pension parity as par with sponsor banks and stop privatization move of Regional Rural Banks (RRB) and proposal for issuing IPO for RRBs.
The UFRRBU began their nationwide strike in all RRBs in the country in support of their demands and appointment on compassionate ground, extension of computer increment and to ensure minimum wage and other benefits.
The President of AKALDRBEA, Sarat Basumatary said, “The UFRRBU has been demanding withdrawal of Civil (Misc) and extension of pension parity at par with sponsor banks, stop privatization move (RRB), start appointment on compassionate ground and ensure minimum wage and other benefits for RRBs’ employees.”
“The three-day strike, which ended on Wednesday, began from March 26 and on the third day today, we received positive response from the Central government with an assurance which was conveyed to us by UFRRBU and we have ended our strike. Rejoicing to the positive development of our demands, we have lit candles in front of LDRB head branch here this evening,” said Basumatary.
“Work will resume from March 29,” Basumatary informed. General secretary, AKALDRBEA, Lokhiram Timung and others took part in the candle lighting.
