A high level meeting headed by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in presence of the Chief Secretary L K Gupta, DGP A K Sukla and other senior officials was held in the State Secretariat conference hall to review the preparedness for the scheduled visit of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand to Tripura during the last week of November.

The Princes shall be flying from Delhi to Agartala airport on November 27 next and from there by a chopper would fly to Unakoti, a centuries-old Shaivite pilgrimage spot, around 178 km from capital Agartala.

The Princes is a Padma Bhushan recipient in 2017 and shall be visiting India for the 18th time.

An interesting cultural programme of Thailand is likely to happen in Tripura during the visit of the Thai Princess who is interested in the lifestyle and culture of the tribes of the region.

According to the Chief Minister, the visit of the Thai Princess shall help in boosting the tourism and handloom-handicraft sector of the State which has a huge potential and can be a game changer if explored properly.

Deb also announced that an International Cultural Buddhist University with the financial help of the India government shall be set up in southern Sabroom subdivision of Tripura and shall also help in improving the relationship with the South Asian nations including Thailand through religious diplomacy.

India and Thailand have a bright future with the coming up of the trilateral highways which shall pave the economic progress of the region beside the huge potential of border trade and tourism and which shall also play an important role.

Present trade and business between India and Thailand are going well but it is still under-potential as the estimated trade potential can be US $ 10 billion annually.
