Along with the rest of the state of Assam, the tea garden labourers of nine tea estates of Amguri in Sivasagar district of Eastern Assam on Tuesday staged strong protest against exploitation by tea estate authority at Amguri Tea Estate.
The protest was called by Asom Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS).

The labourers of nine tea estates of Amguri assembled at Amguri Tea Estate and voiced strong protest against long time exploitation by tea estate authority shouting various slogans.
They demanded to increase of their daily wages, increase of sub employee travelling allowance (TA) from Rs 1,500 to Rs 6,000 and increase of house rent (HR) to Rs 500 per month.
The protest programme was led by Bitupon Keot, organizing secretary, ACMS, Nazira Branch, Biswanath Pradhan and Tarun Tasa, president and secretary respectively of the Haluwating Primary group of ACMS.
