Tamil Nadu on Monday became the latest state to join Punjab and a few others who have decided to extend the nationwide lockdown till April 30.
This announcement was made by Chief Minister K Palaniswami.
“The move is in accordance with the recommendations of medical and public health experts,” Palaniswami said.
The other states who have extended the lockdown till April 30 are Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Odisha and West Bengal.
On Tuesday morning the Prime Minister will address the nation as the 21-day nationwide lockdown announced on March 24 comes to an end.
There have been 308 deaths in India so far due to coronavirus, 35 in the last 24 hours and the number of positive cases has also crossed the 9000 mark.
