Swachh Survekshan Grameen – 2018 for Kamrup Metro district was formally inaugurated on Tuesday by Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal at a function held at Central Training Institute Auditorium, Panikhaiti.

In his inaugural speech, Mittal said it is the responsibility of the public to keep school, health centre, market place and religious place clean.
He appealed the public not to make the places dirty and not to encroach the natural channels.
He also asked Public Health Engineering Departments officials to go to field for this mission.
In his speech, Chief Executive Officer Zilla Parisad Kamrup Metro, Ramen Malakar asked the officials to work for getting a good position in this mission.
He also emphasized on the day-to-day monitoring of the process.
Before that Mittal formally inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp.
After that Executive Engineer PHE Div-I elaborately discussed about the process of Swachh Survekshan Grameen – 2018 with audio visual presentation.
Popular artist of Assamese movie industry, Bikram Rajkhowa also delivered speech regarding the cleanliness.
A Swachhata pledge was also taken by the dignitaries and the public in the occasion.
By reflecting the necessity of cleanliness in the society a street drama was also performed.
After that a Swachhata Rath which was build to carried out the Swachh Survekshan Grameen – 2018 was formally inaugurated by CEO Zilla Parisad, Ramen Malakar.
It is worth mentioning that the programme of Swachh Survekshan Grameen – 2018 will be held from August 1 to 30 to create awareness among the rural masses.
On the basis of direct observation in the public places like schools, anganwadi centres, public health centres, haat-bazaars and religious places marks will be given to the district as clean district.
In this regard it will be observed that whether toilets are available or not in these public premises, whether they use or not, minimal littering in these public premises will be the parameters to judge a village or a district.
Along with these, citizens’ feedback will be taken through village meeting, group discussion, online feedback, personal interviews.
This programme will be held under the supervision of District Water and Sanitation Committee. Public Health Engineering Dept. will be the nodal agency for the programme.
Finally award will be given by Union Government on October 2 in New Delhi.
