Arunachal MP Ninong Ering has dashed off a letter to the Chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes urging him to forward the case of Yobin community to Ministry of Home Affairs to include them in the ST list.
Arunachal East Lok Sabha constituency MP Ninong Ering wrote the letter (D.O.No.MP/AP/2019) to the Chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Nand Kumar Sai, on January 1, 2019.

It may be mentioned that the Union Cabinet recently approved the decision to include four tribes from Arunachal Pradesh namely Nocte, Tangos, Tutsa and Wancho in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list.

Referring to the recent decision of the Union Cabinet in his letter, MP Ering stated the Yobin community, which has a “population of merely 2000” and “live mostly in isolated areas”, has not been included by the Union Cabinet.

Urging the Chairperson of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes to forward the case of Yobin community to the MoHA and the Centre, the Arunachal East MP stated: “So, I urge you to kindly forward the case of Yobins urgently and immediately to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Government of India so that the interest of the people from Yobin community can be protected and it can be included in the ST list.”
Two organizations of the Yobin tribe, mostly residing in Arunachal Pradesh, also expressed disgruntlement over non-exclusion of the Yobin tribe in the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill 2018.
The Union Cabinet recently approved the Bill that seeks revision in the list of the Scheduled Tribes (ST) of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Union Cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A joint statement signed by the general secretary of Yobin Tribe Fundamental Rights Forum, Avia Ngwazah and vice president of Yobin Welfare Society, Tifusa Yobin also stated that exclusion of Yobin community from the current APST Bill is a ‘mystery and a matter of grief’.
