Samir Singh, a marathon runner running for a cause was felicitated at a grand function organized at Sector Headquarters of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Bongaigaon district of Assam.

Singh, the marathon runner is generating awareness among the general public about the Ministry of Home Affairs’ website ‘Bharat Ke Veer’, launched for collection of fund for providing financial help to the family members of martyrs of central police organizations.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh Anthony Thanmi, Deputy Inspector General, Sector Headquarters, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Bongaigaon said that, “we all have gathered here to give our best wishes to Sh Samir Singh for successful completion of his motivating long journey”.

Samir Singh has started his run on December 1, 2017 from Wagha, Punjab, situated along Indo-Pakistan border.

After that he has run more than 11,000 kilometres parallel to the land and sea boundaries of the country through the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghlaya, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

From Bongaigaon, he will move parallel to international borders of the country through the states of Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and conclude his journey at Wagha Border in Punjab, running approximately about 15,000 kilometres.

This will be longest marathon of the world.
