Manipur Education, Labour and Employment Minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that sports and education should be an integral parts of life for the youths. He emphasized that sports with education and hard work can bring more opportunities.

Minister Radheshyam was speaking at the Welcome Home Party of Laishram Sayon Meitei who won a silver medal at the World Cadet Wrestling Championship in Croatia held from July 2-8 this year at Ngarouthel Community Hall, Heirok in Thoubal district. The day’s programme, attended by Upadhyaksa T Nungshi Singh, dignitaries and locals, was organised by Young Brilliant Club.

Congratulating Laishram Sayon Meitei for his achievement Radheshyam said it is indeed a very proud moment for the Manipuri and people of Heirok. He hoped that Laishram would bring more laurels to the state and the country. He said if one stays focused towards his goal in life then there is nothing that can stop them from achieving success. Radheshyam also emphasized the importance of education to become an achiever.

He added that to live a meaningful and happy life it is important to maintain a healthy mind and body. He stressed that games and sports is a means through which young and old can stay fit and healthy.

Born in 2001, Laishram Sayon Meitei has been trained as a wrestler from a very young age.  He was trained at SAI Imphal and got selected at Nasik Army Boys. He had participated in several national as well as international championships such as Asian Championship 2018 also.

Radheshyam who represents Heirok Constituemcy also assured that a playground, library and leisure parks for the senior citizens and youths will be developed. He added that a hundred-bedded hostel for the Heirok Higher Secondary School will also be constructed.
