A special training programme for the forest guards is underway at the Bagori range of the Kaziranga National Park in Assam.
Dubbed as the ‘Training of the trainers’, the special training is being imparted to 30 forest guards under the aegis of the State Forest Department.

After successful completion of this specialized training, these forest guards will go back and train other forest workers of their respective forest ranges.
These selected 3o forest guards are being imparted specialized training by experienced trainer Wanter Combrik from a forest college in South Africa.
The training camp is being organized by the Kaziranga National Park authorities and supported by World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The camp is being attended by forest officials from Kaziranga National Park, Manas National Park, Pobitora wildlife Sanctuary and Orang National Park.
The forests guards are being trained to combat against poachers, field inspection, use of sophisticated arms and all other ways to deal with any adversary inside the forest.
The Divisional Forest Officer, (DFO) of Kaziranga, Rohini Ballav Saikia, informed that 10 among these 30 trainees will be selected for further advanced training to be conducted at a later stage.
The second phase of advanced training will be imparted at the Agartoli range of the Kaziranga National Park.
The DFO further said this training will equip the forest guards to tackle the poachers in a more trained and skilled way.
