Special Summary Revision 2018 of the electoral rolls of Manipur was started on Saturday and it will continue till October 31, 2018, according to the Chief Electoral Officer of Manipur, PK Singh.

As per the Draft Electoral Roll, the total number of electors with Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to be covered is 19,06249 consisting of 928857 males and 977392 females.

Singh stated that efforts are being made to print EPICs for 6,610 electors and distribute the same on National Voters’ Day on January 25,2019.

Announcing this during a press conference at the conference hall of the Chief Electoral Office, Lamphel here, Chief Electoral Officer PK Singh said that anyone, who wished to enrol, delete, make corrections and apply for transposition of their names can obtain forms from Booth Level Officers or designated Electoral Registration Centres or download the required forms online during this period.

For new enrolment, one needs to be 18 years of age as on January 1, 2019, the Chief Electoral Officer added.

He stated that Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT) machine will be used in all the polling stations of 60 Assembly constituencies in the State.

Singh also informed that the draft electoral rolls of each Assembly constituency in printed and DVD ROM will be made available to the national and State political parties free of cost.

The general public and representatives of political parties may verify or inspect the draft photo electoral rolls at the office of EROs/AEROs and all the Booth Level Officers.

Forty-four new polling stations have been set up recently in 60 Assembly constituencies including Imphal West -12, Bishenpur-1, Thoubal- 8, Ukhrul-1, Senapati-16, Tamenglong-1 and Churachandpur-5.

The CEO office will launch a major multi- media awareness campaign called ‘I Am Ready” comprising TV ads, print ads, outdoor, online, etc. for encouraging the people to exercise their universal adult franchise by making the youth icons of State as brand ambassadors.

The day’s press conference which was attended by the officials of the State Election Department, was in connection with the “Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls of intensive nature reference to 01-01-2019 as qualifying date”.
