Solomon’s Temple, the biggest Church in Mizoram, is now open for public. It took 20 years to build the church, and was inaugurated on the Christmas.
Located at Kidron Valley in Chawlhmun, on the western outskirts of Aizawl, the church was built by a religious group called Kohhran Thianghlim. People from across the globe gathered at the Solomon’s Temple for the inauguration.
This year two big churches were inaugurated in the northeast. On April 22, the Sumi Baptist Church was inaugurated in Zunheboto in Nagaland. It is considered to be one of the largest church buildings in Asia. It took 10 years to build at a reported cost of Rs 36 crore.
“God had shown me Solomon’s Temple in my dreams,” L.B Sailo, founder, Kohhran Thianghlim told the Northeast Now on Friday, adding that he had never thought of Solomon’s Temple before.” The dream came in 1991.
Sailo said he had never thought of constructing the Solomon’s Temple. “But, when God gave me the task in my dreams, I had to think seriously about it,” he said.
According to the Hebrew Bible, Solomon’s Temple (also known as the First Temple), was the Holy Temple in ancient Jerusalem. The temple was constructed by King Solomon, the then ruler of Israel and Judah. Judah had dedicated to Yahweh, and is said to have housed the Ark of the Covenant.
Surrounded by deep forestry, the new-age Solomon’s Temple has become a tourist destination in Mizoram. The foundation stone of the multi-storied church was laid in 1996. It has a seating capacity of 3,000 people within the main hall and 10,000 people within its courtyard called, The porch of Solomon’s Temple.
