Dietary supplements of foreign origin worth Rs 1.14 crore seized in Manipur

Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles apprehended one smuggler with dietary supplements of foreign origin worth Rs 1.14 crore at Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP) at Khudengthabi in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district on Monday.

“Based on specific input received from reliable source regarding illegal import of goods, a white colour Tata DI (MN04 A 6843) travelling from Moreh to Imphal was intercepted at 5 pm for checking at PVCP, Khudengthabi,” PRO Assam Rifles (South) said in a press release.

“While frisking and carrying out thorough checking of the baggage illegally imported dietary supplements of foreign origin were found loaded in various cartons,” the release added.

Altogether 1,152 plastic jars (1,15,200 capsules) of Hydroxy Cut (fat burner) capsules, 2,016 plastic jars (362.88 kgs) of Cellucor C4 (dietary supplement) and 1,904 plastic jars (171360 capsules) of Black Mamba Ephedra (dietary supplement) were recovered from the baggage.

One Moirangthem Goroba Singh (34) son of Late Moirangthem Yaima Singh of Tera Lukram Leirak, Imphal was apprehended along with the recovered items. He was handed over to Customs Preventive Force at Moreh.

On the other hand Phundrei Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles organised an awareness programme at Assam Rifles Middle School at Thoubal for spreading consciousness regarding drug abuse and its illicit trafficking amongst the students on July 3. Around 250 students were present during the event.
