College teacher and model Smita Deb from Assam won the title of Mrs Universe Lovely 2018 at Cebu in Philippines.
The coronation was organised at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel on December 10 which was participated by 88 women from across the globe.
The 41st edition of the international pageant was hosted for married and empowered women for the first time.
Smita, who is an Assistant Professor at Science College, Kokrajhar and owner at Styling City Unisex Studio at Silchar, is also a model, makeup artist, and a documentary filmmaker. She is currently pursuing PhD at Assam University in Silchar.
Wife of BTAD IGP Anurag Agrawal, Smita had earlier in May this year, won the prestigious “I Am Me Mrs Royal India Universe 2018? title at Gurgaon in New Delhi.
Her national costume for parade of nation was inspired by rich and colourful tradition of Northeast India, featuring the extensive usage of feathers plucked from dead Hornbill birds (an endangered species) and an exclusive hand work of traditional design accompanied by antique traditional bead and metal coin accessories.
At Mrs Universe 2018 her presentation for Forum was ‘Domestic Violence’, where she emphasised on free education for women.
She further added that education could make a woman aware of her legal rights and open up opportunities to empower themselves for earning descent livelihood.
She concluded her presentation with a strong message of awareness – Recognize it, Report it and Prevent it.
