Following resignation of 30 teachers in Manipur to avoid prosecution for continuing their services even after being enrolled in medical and agricultural colleges for pursuing various courses and were attending classes as students, the Manipur Education Department has terminated services of six graduate teachers for producing forged certificates and mark sheets to get appointed as graduate teachers under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan in different parts of the State.
According to media reports, the terminated teachers, who were appointed as graduate teachers under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan on December 22, 2016, submitted forged BEd certificates and mark sheets to get appointed as BEd certificate and mark sheet is compulsory for appointment as a graduate teacher.
The Director, Education (schools), Th Kirankumar, issued separate letters to effect the termination of the six teachers who used forgery for appointment as graduate teachers.
The Education (schools) Director also reportedly directed the Additional State Project Director of RMSA State Implementing Society to loge FIRs against the fraud teachers within a month and also to recover the pay and allowances they had drawn within six months.
The teachers, who have been terminated from their services, are Salam Tamphasana Devi, Manshi Pamei, Luckyson Mangte, T Letkhagin Haokip, Akhamliu Gonmei and Kiusianang Kahmei.
As per media reports, Salam Tamphasana Devi was found passing the BEd examination in 2005 in second class and in first class and her mark sheet produced before the Education Department was also found tampered after the college (DM College of Teacher Education, Imphal) records were checked. Moreover, the certificates and mark sheets of Higher Secondary Examination and High School Leaving Certificate Examination produced by Devi were also reportedly found ‘tempered’.
On the other hand, Haokip, who submitted a forged certificate of passing BEd examination in 2014 from DM College of Teacher Education, Imphal, was not a student of the college as per records of the college.
