The Tibetan Youth Congress Northeast is all set to organize a motorcycle rally on the occasion of the Tibetan Uprising Day on March 10.

The rally, which will be started at Namnang in Gangtok at 10 am and end at Salugara in Siliguri.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Tibetan Youth Congress Sikkim Chapter president Tenzing Pelber said, “A total of 61 bikers will take part in the motorbike rally.”

He also said, “The bike rally has been dedicated to the Tibetan people who have sacrificed their lives for the community.”

Pelber also said the rally aims at informing the masses about various issues of the Tibetan people and the present situation of the people in Tibet.

He added that the interested bikers can contact the organizers to be part and support the event.

It may be mentioned that the Tibetan people across the globe will observe the 57th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day on March 10.

The Chinese troops suppressed the Tibetan uprising in Lhasa in 1959 forcing the Dalai Lama and over 80,000 Tibetans into exile in India and other countries.

Meanwhile, the exile Tibetan government, known officially as the Central Tibetan Administration, on Thursday announced that it would postpone an upcoming event indefinitely and advised caution during the March 10-Tibetan Uprising Day commemorations, in light of the rising coronavirus cases in India.
