Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party on Wednesday released its election manifesto for upcoming 10th Assembly election and 17th parliamentary election 2019 here on Wednesday.

The manifesto was released by SKM party president PS Golay in the presence of senior leaders and workers and candidates of SKM party.

After its release, the party president dedicated SKM election manifesto to the people of Sikkim.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Golay spoke about the main flagship programmes of the SKM party for different sections of the society of Sikkim.

The main flagship programmes include government jobs for all unemployed of the State within 100 days of SKM government formation and allowance of Rs 10,000 per month to those unemployed who cannot be provided job until they get a job.

Some other flagship programmes are to increase wage of MGNREGA to Rs 300 per day by putting the State share, to provide Rs 5 lakh in five years in the name of the woman head of the family, government holiday on every Saturday, to give district status to Pakyong sub-division and Soreng sub-division, to regularise jobs provided under ‘One Family One Job’ scheme within 100 days of government formation, regularisation of all ad hoc teachers, waiving of farmers and unemployed’s loans, schemes for workers in the private companies and voice against implementation of the Citizen (Amendment) Bill in the State.

The SKM president also spoke about different political, social, economical and other issues included in the party manifesto.

The SKM manifesto of 132 pages has made various announcements for different sections of the society.

Speaking on the Universal Basic Income (UBI), he stated that although the UBI was a very good concept but it was not possible for State like Sikkim to implement it as it already has a huge debt.

However, he added that the spirit of UBI has been included in the programmes of SKM party to fulfil all basic needs of the people.

He stated that SKM party would fulfil all its promises made in the manifesto in five years.

The SKM president also added that the SKM would work on its promises made in 2014 election manifesto.

He added that SKM manifesto was very scientific, inclusive, futuristic and Sikkim-centric.

Golay appealed to all the people of Sikkim to give five years to the SKM party to save Sikkim and uproot the autocratic SDF government from Sikkim.

He stated that in five years SKM will take account of all money came to Sikkim for its people and will place the record before the people of Sikkim.

He mentioned that SKM party was ready for the election with all eligible candidates in 32 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat.

Golay urged all sections of the society to extend their support to SKM party in the ensuing elections.

Responding to media queries on not contesting the election, Golay stated that being the party president, he has remained busy in reaching out to the people across the State; so he decided not to contest the elections but to work for the party to take it to formation of government.

On the SKM announcing his name as the CM candidate, he responded that when the party would get majority then there is a provision to choose their leader and the CM.

He added that this was not his announcement but the decision of the parliamentary committee of the party and he has wholeheartedly accepted the decision of the party.

Responding to allegation of ‘Pariwarvad’ as his son is also contesting the election, Golay stated that his son being a candidate for the election cannot be ‘Pariwarvad’ but by contesting the election, he will learn the political tradition and civility of the State.

He added that to give all benefits and opportunities to family members after formation of the government was ‘Pariwarvad’.
