Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party spokesperson, Jacob Khaling on Sunday lashed out at Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party for accusing the State Government for the first COVID-19 positive case in the State.

Khaling urged SDF party to rise up from its double standard politics in such pandemic situation.

Addressing a press conference in Gangtok, Khaling mentioned that SDF party functionaries and some anonymous IDs having links to SDF party have been accusing that the wrong decision of the State Government has brought the COVID-19 positive case in Sikkim.

On the same, he explained that after issuing guidelines by the Centre on April 29 last for the movement of stranded people and migrant workers by following protocol, the State Government started the online registration to bring its stranded people from different parts of the country.

“The State Government has equal responsibility towards its people living in and outside the State. So, we delivered our responsibility sincerely and started to bringing back our people from different parts of the country safely,” Khaling said.

On the same, he mentioned that the State Government has started bringing back its people slowly for the safety but SDF party through its spokespersons and pandemic family had built pressure on the government to bring all its people immediately.

He added that the State Government has changed its policy and increased the pace of bringing its stranded people.

Khaling asserted that SDF party should stop playing politics as COVID-19 was not the matter for politics but to support the efforts of the State Government.

The SKM spokesperson strongly condemned the recent statement of former minister and BJP MLA, D T Lepcha accusing the State Government for the first COVID-19 positive case in the State.

“We have not expected such irresponsible from such senior politician. We expect for positive and constructive suggestion from him in such situation,” he expressed.

He urged Lepcha so stop playing politics in such situation and support the government to keep Sikkim safe.
