Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party on Monday came down heavily on Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party for announcing P S Golay as its chief ministerial candidate.
The ruling party stressed that SKM party was totally misrepresenting the law and facts and misleading the electorates of Sikkim on this matter which was the direction violation of the election code of conduct.
On the same, SDF party demanded the Chief Electoral Officer of the State to take sue motto cognition of this particular case and proceed as accordance with the law for cheating and misguiding the electorates of the State.
Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Monday, SDF spokesperson, Bhim Dahal stated that SKM party was again trying to deceive the people with its controversial statement of P S Golay was its chief ministerial candidate.
He mentioned that SDF being a responsible party has always been working to place the fact to avoid people getting misled. He mentioned that a convicted person under the Prevention of Corruption Act cannot contest the election under Representation of People’s Act. He expressed that a political party was an institution to lead the people so the leader should always tell the truth.
Dahal mentioned that P S Golay cannot contest the election as his nomination paper would get rejected as per the law. He added that a convicted person even cannot be a nominated chairman as per the law then there was no question for him to become the chief minister.
He asserted that it was not good to do politics by misleading and deceiving the people of Sikkim. On the same, he warned SKM party not to do such drama and demanded SKM party to immediately announce its real chief ministerial candidate so that the people would not get misled. He stated that SKM party should concentrate on the election campaign of its candidates instead of deceiving and misleading the people.
SDF spokesperson, KT Gyaltsen asserted that a political party should always keep the truth to the people so that it can defend its statement in the future. He added that there was surprising that there was no name of P S Golay in the list of 33 candidates of SKM party and it proves that he was not allowed to contest the election as per the law.
