The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) will kick-start its election campaign from January 2 for the ensuing Assembly elections slated for next year.

Party supremo and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling issued this directive to the party workers at Jorethang on Monday.

He was addressing the coordination meeting of SDF south district functionaries, reports Sikkim Express.

Chamling directed the party workers to begin the election campaign from January 2, 2019. The campaign of ‘Each One-Teach One’ should be expedited to encourage inter and intra personal communication to motivate people for better Sikkim, he directed.

It was informed that the coordination meeting was to chart out the SDF’s election strategies for the 2019 Assembly elections scheduled in March-April.

Chamling came out with various instructions and directives at the meeting. He said the SDF party is established to shine future of Sikkim and all its citizens.  All party functionaries should leave their personal interest and to promote team work for common interest of people as sincere party workers, he directed. He stressed to maintain discipline and dignity within the party.

Chamling reiterated that power should be handed over to safe hands. There is no alternative and situational option in current political scenario, so it is the duty of SDF party to save and protect Sikkim, he said. He directed the party workers to enhance wide publicity of achievements, ideology and principles of the SDF government.

The Chief Minister informed that the 1000-bedded multi-speciality hospital at Gangtok is scheduled to be inaugurated January 15. The foundation stone laying ceremony of the medical college will be held on the same day, he said.

He also shared dates of the ensuing Janta Mela series starting from January 16 at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok.
