Sikkim private schools urged to waive additional charges of lockdown period

The Sikkim Education Department has issued an advisory on Wednesday to all private schools located in the State to consider waiving of charges on account of games, library, science lab, computer and transport free etc for the period of lockdown.

The advisory further states that a suitable extension of time may also be provided towards payment of tuition and development fees to such parents who are unable to pay that during the lockdown period.

The department issued the advisory after having a meeting with representatives of various private schools of East District to discuss the situation arising out of closure of schools for a long time due to COVID-19 pandemic.

It is informed that the meeting has passed a unanimous opinion to provide some financial relief to parents of students studying in private schools because of financial hardships being faced by them.
