The Body Building & Powerlifting Association of Sikkim (BBPLAS) will conduct a selection trial in Gangtok for the 52nd Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships.
Interacting with media in Gangtok on Sunday, BBPLAS general secretary Pema W D Bhutia said that it is indeed a wonderful opportunity for the youth of Sikkim to come forward and display their talent at an international level.
The association urged all the bodybuilders to come forward and display their talent during the selection trial.
The association also welcomed the newly-affiliated gyms into the fold of the Body Building & Powerlifting Association of Sikkim.
The BBPLAS will be holding the trials at Mt Zion School auditorium, at Tadong in Gangtok on August 8 following which the selected candidates will be sent to Chhattisgarh for the national trials in September.
The Asian championship will be held at Balewadi Stadium in Pune during the month of October.
Bodybuilders from more than 28 countries will be participating in the event.
Neighbouring country Bhutan hosted the event last year.
BBPLAS is affiliated to the Indian Bodybuilders Federation, a Government of India-recognized federation.
Elaborating on their future programmes in Sikkim during the media interaction, the association informed that they will be organizing Mr Sikkim competition in November and the third Strongman and second Strong Woman competition in the month of September later this year.
