Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Saturday announced the construction of Bhanu Bhawan in Gangtok and urged the concerned organization to scout for a suitable land in the State capital.
Chamling said this while addressing the 204th Bhanu Jayanti celebration programme organized by Nepali Sahitya Parishad (NSP) Sikkim here at Manan Kendra.

Chamling said Sikkim should have its own Bhanu Bhawan, an institute where the annual Bhanu Jayanti can be celebrated in a grand manner.
Chamling further said that as the longest serving Chief Minister in the country, he had done his best to promote and push Nepali language forward in every way.
He informed that this year the State government has also appointed Nepali graduate teachers and from next year primary teachers for Nepali language will also be appointed.

The Chief Minister also appealed to all not to be a victim of caste and religion-based politics and to aim for expanding one’s knowledge through intellectual dialogue and communication.
The programme was attended by Gangtok MLA Pintso Chopel Lepcha, chairman of the Bhanu Jayanti Celebration Committee, Mayor Shakti Singh Chowdhary, literary figures, teachers, students and other guests.
On the occasion, the Bhanu Puraskhar 2018 of Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Sikkim was presented posthumously to litterateur Late Radhakrishna Sharma.
The award was received by the family members of Late Radhakrishna Sharma.
Earlier, students from various schools in and around Gangtok performed dance and songs and recited extracts from Bhanubhakta’s translation of the Ramayana.
