Sikkim Body Building and Power Lifting team to compete in national level championships

A four-member team of Body Building and Power Lifting Association of Sikkim (BBPLAS0) is all set to represent Sikkim in the 11th edition of Mr India Senior Men’s and Women’s Body Building & 6th Men’s and Women’s Physique Sports National Championship 2018 to be held from 23 to 25 March at Pune in Maharashtra.

The team is scheduled to leave for the championship on March 22.

The state team are Pema WD Bhutia, Subham Kumar Prasad and Hishey Namgyal Bhutia in body building competition and Romario Gyatso Bhutia in men’s physique competition.

The team will be accompanied by Virendra Singh as the team coach cum manager. All four participants are participating for the first time in the national level competition.

Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Tuesday, BBPLAS President Sanjay Chettri mentioned that BBPLAS was formed last year and was sending the team for the first time in any national level competition.

He assured that the association would continuously send teams every year annually in the national competitions to promote and encourage local bodybuilders at the national level.

BBPLAS has been affiliated with Indian Body Builders Federation [IBBF], which has been recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India.

The team members expressed their confidence in performing well at the competition to win medals for the State.
