Sikkim Aakraman FC go down to Army (Red) in Governor’s Gold Cup

Army (Red) defeated Sikkim Aakraman Football Club by a solitary goal in a well contested semi-final match of the 38th All India Governor’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament 2018 here at Paljor Stadium on Wednesday. A goal by Army (Red) captain N Suresh Meitei in the injury time of the first half has taken the team into the finals of the tournament.

With maximum possession of the ball, the home team has maintained a good pressure on the opponent side throughout the match. Sikkim Aakraman players made some good attacks but missed the net to score any goal in the match.

Sikkim Aakraman FC coach, Shisil Karthak stated that Army [Red] was a strong side but home team players their best with the maximum possession of the ball throughout the match.

“Our boys have played exceptionally well but we miss good opportunities to score in the match. We would like to thank our local crowd for supporting us throughout the match,” he said.

The second semi-final will be played between Manang Marshangdi Club, Nepal and ISL team, ATK Kolkata (Reserve) on Thursday afternoon at 2 pm.
