The Himalayan State of Sikkim has reported three more COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

With these three fresh COVID-19 deaths, the State’s death toll due to the deadly virus has risen to 115.

Moreover, Sikkim has reported fresh 21 COVID-19 cases.

The State’s total COVID-19 cases tally has mounted to 5168, of which 367 are active cases.

On the other hand, as many as 4596 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and have been discharged from different hospitals in the State.

Meanwhile, Sikkim has so far conducted 63,780 sample tests, including 173 in the past 24 hours.

Notably, Sikkim did not register even a single case of COVID-19 till late May.

However, at present the Himalayan State has the third-highest case fatality rate in the country.

Sikkim recorded its first coronavirus case in late May and since then the State has witnessed a rapid surge in total cases.

Earlier, Chief Minister PS Tamang had announced that the people of Sikkim will be administered coronavirus vaccine free of cost.

“The pandemic is not over yet. We should be following all the necessary protocols to keep ourselves and others away from the virus,” the PS Tamang said.

“As and when COVID-19 vaccine arrives, our Government will provide it free of cost to every Sikkimese,” announced the Chief Minister.
