The Sikkim government will organise the ten-day Red Panda Winter Carnival from January 8, 2018 to boost its tourism sector. In this connection the first preparatory meeting for the celebration was held at Gangtok on Tuesday.

Sikkim minister of tourism and cultural affairs Ugen T Gyatso in his address deliberated on the importance of conducting such events and bringing in ways to further boost tourism sector in the state. He said “Tourism is the only future as through this sector Sikkim has managed to be visible in the national and international arena. It is a golden era for Sikkim in terms of growth and development and it would be a big loss if we do not capitalize on this.” He further added “Though the department has limited funds it will do its best to conduct the event with positive results. We need to keep moving forward against all odds.”
He also urged the hotel owners and stakeholders to participate in the event actively and added that the event would be celebrated in a grand and befitting manner.
