Sikkim’s Pakyong airport which finally obtained license recently to start commercial operations is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Pakyong airport in future could be used by the Indian Air Force in case of military requirements.

As per sources, Indian Air Force’s different aircraft’s will be able to operate from Pakyong airport which shares borders with China.

Centre is focused on improving infrastructure along the China border as part of a policy initiative.

Pakyong Greenfield airport, around 60 KM from the Sino-India border, got the aerodrome license from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation last week for commercial operations.
