Bhutia said that the 18-year-old was suffering from “regular flu” and it was confirmed by a doctor, as well.

“There should be zero tolerance against such cases of discrimination,” Bhutia further said in his complaint.

“She was asked to leave her rented room in Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri, when she had a fever. She was left outside her house for three to four hours with no help,” Bhutia stated in a statement after registering the complaint.

“The doctor, in writing, informed that it was only the regular flu,” he further added.

“She was asked to return on April 14 after the lockdown was over, but the landlord later denied her entry to the rented accommodation. She was asked to pay the rent and leave,” Bhutia alleged.

Refuting the allegations straight away, Dey said three women lived as tenants at his place and all of them left after the lockdown was announced.

“However, one woman came back after 15days and I asked her to come back after the lockdown. She left but only to come back with some people and wanted to enter the premises forcibly,” Dey said.

“Left with no other option, I had to call the police and she left with her belongings,” Dey further added.

Speaking about the incident Limboo said that finding no way out, she reached out to Bhutia for help.

The inspector in-charge of Pradhan Nagar police station Biswajit Ghosal informed that they are looking into the matter and he has even asked the landlord to allow Limboo to move in.
