Sixteen workers of Jharkhand stranded in Sikkim have been sent to their native state from Yangyang in South Sikkim on Tuesday.

These workers hail from Deoghar and Giridi districts of Jharkhand and were working at the under-construction site of Sikkim University in Yangang.

It is informed that these labourers were staying in Yangang since lockdown and wanted to return to their home state.

As per information given by sub divisional magistrate of Yangang, Sangay Gyatso Bhutia they were sent back in a bus provided by Police Training Centre, Yangang till Rangpo Check Post following proper protocols of COVID-19.

The arrangement for transportation was made by district administration of South district after receiving permission from the concerned authorities.

From Rangpo Checkpost, these people further proceeded to their respective districts in a bus arranged from their state.

It is informed that this is the first batch of labourers despatched from Yangang sub-division through Rangpo Check Post.
