Priya Chettri emerged as the champion of the Inter School Rapid Chess Tournament-2018 held here at SDF Bhawan on Sunday. Bhoj Bahadur Chettri finished the tournament at second position and Saurab Subba secured the third position.

The day-long tournament was organised by Sikkim Chess Association. Around 300 students from over 35 schools from different parts of the state participated in this tournament.

Top fifteen players of the tournament have been awarded with trophies, medals, cash prizes and certificates.

The tournament was inaugurated by GMC Chairman, Ashish Rai as the chief guest. The association has organised the rapid chess tournament for the first time in the state. The tournament was played on Swiss League System in six rounds.

SCA general secretary, Mahendra Dhakal thanked BSNL for sponsoring the trophies. He also thanked different schools, students and their parents for their participation in the tournament.
