Sikkim went down to Meghalaya 0-1 in its first match in the Dr T Ao Memorial U-21 Football Tournament 2018 at Guwahati in Assam on Friday. Despite of its wonderful performance throughout the match, Sikkim conceded the goal in the 88th minute.

Sikkim got the walkover in its second match of Dr T Ao Memorial U-21 Football Tournament scheduled for tomorrow as Mizoram failed to turn up in the tournament. Sikkim has its crucial must-win match against Tripura on February 25 to make to the semi-final of the tournament.

Sikkim team manager Arjun Rai told Northeast Now that the team had played an impressive game throughout the match but missed some wonderful chance to score in the match and unfortunately conceded the last minute goal. “We have a must win match against Tripura on February 25 to make our place in the semi-final of the tournament,” he said.

An 18-member Sikkim squad left on February 20 for the tournament. The team has been accompanied by Suren Chettri as team coach and Arjun Rai as team manager. Sikkim is the runners-up team in the last edition of the tournament.
