Despite surge in COVID-19 cases, the Sikkim government has announced further relaxations for tourists willing to visit the Himalayan State.
The Sikkim Government announced that if one member of a family has got both doses of a COVID vaccine then other family members with one dose and accompanying children will be allowed to enter the state through the Melli and Rangpo check posts.

However, partially vaccinated persons will have to carry a valid RTPCR report, the test for which should be conducted within 72 hours of arrival, a nootification said.
Tourists who are not vaccinated, or partially vaccinated but are not accompanied by a fully vaccinated relative will not be allowed to enter the state, it added.

The relaxations were announced despite Sikkim reporting over 20% of positivity rate on a daily basis.
Sikkim, on Thursday, logged 222 new COVID-19 cases and one more related death.
The Himalayan state currently has 2144 active cases.
Meanwhile, one more death has taken the State’s COVID-19 death toll up to 312.
