Congress in Sikkim is gearing up for the general elections.

The party has decided to support any move for unification of the opposition parties before the election.

The party which convened a meeting of its members on Tuesday chalked out a strategy in this regard. It has decided to work in unison with other parties except BJP and SDF.

The meeting held at Tadong was chaired by the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Dorjee Wangdi Bhutia. The party has also decided to strengthen its organizational activities. The meeting discussed on the future programme and strategies of the party and also discussed on the strategies and role of the party for upcoming general election.

A delegation of the state unit will meet the party president Rahul Gandhi and apprise him about the decision of the meeting. It has further decided to rake up several important issues of the state with the party president during the meet.
