Sikkim chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling on Tuesday promised that the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) government would ensure that the state becomes the first one in the country to be completely made free of kutcha houses.

While addressing people at Rorathang on day five of his 10-day long Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally, Chamling said that development of the state to global standards would be the aim of the SDF party.

He also said that providing safe drinking water and electricity to the people of Sikkim would be the top priority of the party, according to reports.

Chamling also added that the SDF party has a leadership of 25 years and termed the party as ‘a party with seasoned leaders and not seasonal leaders’.

He said that the SDF party has a full proof programme to serve the Sikkimese people for a lifetime.

Sikkim will be having the Assembly and parliamentary elections in the first phase of the general elections 2019 on April 11. Sikkim has 32 Assembly seats and one parliamentary seat.

There are total 567 polling booths and 4,23,167 voters in the state.
