Dentam in West Sikkim is geared up to host the first North East Youth Festival from January 21 to 23.
Notably, more than 15,000 youths from all across the eight north-eastern states are expected to come together at Dentam stadium for the festival.
Meanwhile the organizing committee is giving final touches for the grand event and a preparatory meeting was held recently to discuss the final preparations, reports Sikkim Express.
The meeting chaired by local legislator and minister N K Subba which was attended by advisors A D Subba and Sher Hang Subba, Youth Development Board chairman Khem Prasad Dahal, Sports department director Kamal Singh Chettri and others.
Subba, who is also the chief patron of the festival organizing committee, informed that this is for the first time that the State government is organizing the North East Youth Festival on its own expense with objective of enabling the youth of north- eastern States of India to be the part of various youth development programmes.
He stated that the youth-oriented festival will have the participations of more than 15,000 youth from all the eight Northeastern States of the country.
Subba appealed to the people involved in management of the festival to make all-out efforts in making the festival a successful one.
Various aspects related to the festival were discussed and plans and resolutions were passed in the meeting.
Various sporting and cultural activities are expected to draw a large number of people in the three-day long festival.
