Four students of Sikkim selected under Dr BR Ambedkar Scholarship 2018 will be sent to DPS, Yamuna Nagar in Haryana for their further studies. These four students have been selected under the Scheduled Caste Scholarship Scheme for emerging as toppers in their respective districts in Class V in the academic session of 2017.

Human Resource Development Department of Sikkim has organized a counseling programme for the students selected under Dr BR Ambedkar Scholarship 2018 here on Wednesday. HRDD director Bhim Thatal congratulated the students and informed that they would be sent to DPS, Yamuna Nagar in Haryana for further studies.

The selected students are Prajwal Thatal of Khamdong Sonamati Memorial Government Senior Secondary School, Sumit Sunar of Langang Government Secondary School, Sharmila Kami of Bakcha Primary School and Pratikcha Ramudamu of Yangyang Government Senior Secondary School.

Thatal said that this scheme was announced by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on April 14 in 2015. This is the third batch of the SC students under the Dr BR Ambedkar Scholarship Scheme. He urged students to maintain a good discipline and to study hard.

Director also interacted with the parents of the selected students and teacher representatives of some schools and elaborated about the scholarship scheme. He further stated that the students and their escorts would be provided with the travel cost by the HRDD.
