A delegation of Sikkim Limboo Tamang Apex Committee (SILTAC) is presently in New Delhi meeting Union ministers and senior government officials to expedite the long pending Limboo-Tamang Assembly seat reservation demand.

According to a press release, the SILTAC delegation reiterated their demand to the Centre based on Article 332 read with Article 371F (f) which is a special Constitutional provision for Sikkim.

The SILTAC delegation called on Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Joel Oram, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Jitendra Singh.

The SILTAC delegation had fruitful discussions with the Union ministers on the issue and received positive response from them, the release issued on Wednesday stated.

As per the assurances given by the Union Ministers, the SILTAC delegation is positive that the demand will be considered by the Government of India at the earliest, the release added.

“We are hopeful that the matter will be considered soon and before the elections of 2019, so as to enable us to enjoy our Constitutional and fundamental rights and participate in the forthcoming Assembly election,” stated the SILTAC in the press release issued by committee chairman C B Subba.

Led by C B Subba, the SILTAC delegation also met National Commission for ST vice chairperson Anusuya Uikey on Tuesday.

The delegation talked on the issue of providing Limboo-Tamang seat seats without any further delay.

It is informed that the vice chairperson assured that all possible recommendation would be made by the commission.
