The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is organizing a ‘March for Justice’ rally on Saturday next seeking immediate redressal by the Pawan Chamling government of pending issues in areas like political, administrative, social and economy.
The proposed march will begin from 5th Mile, Tadong to Zero Point at Bhanu Park, stated a press release issued by the Morcha on Wednesday.
The protestors will also demand an immediate stop on the administrative practice of giving service extension and re-appointment to retired government officials.
The other demands to be raised at the rally are regularization of all casual workers appointed in government departments and Home Guards who have completed more than five years of service and abolition of labour contract system in private factors followed by giving direct appointment to the workers the release added.
“Our local youths working in private companies should be trained and hired in first and second class posts,” the SKM release stated adding that, “Permanent service should be given to educated youths after conducting interviews in posts that are vacant in the HRD and other departments.”
The release further stated that ‘support and opportunities should be given to local youths for supply works and government contact works in tourism industry, government hotels and cafeterias’.
