Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party on Tuesday announced that it would take out a ‘March for Justice’ in support of their various political, administrative, social and financial demands at Gangtok on March 24.

The ‘March for Justice’ will start from Saraswati Mandir at 5th Mile, Tadong and will culminate at Bhanu Park in Zero Point, stated a SKM press communique.

The release informed that through the march, the SKM party will place its seven demands for justice before the State Government.

The release added that the demands include immediate release of the government employees, who are serving on extension and provide regular jobs to the educated unemployed youths, immediate regularisation of the employees who have already worked more than five years on muster roll, ad hoc, coterminous and contract basis and regularisiation of the home guards, who already served for five years along with arrears.

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha also demanded that as the home guards have received police training so they should not be appointed as night guards and peons but they should be regularised and promoted in the Police Department.

The party has also demanded abolition of the contract system in private companies. It has demanded that the government should provide regular jobs in government departments after taking interview, give preference to local youths in contracts and supply works, cancel pilots provided to the Ministers and others.
