Sikkim minister of commerce and industries Bedu Singh Panth on Thursday attended a joint meeting of Board of Trade and Council of Trade Development and Promotion convened by the Commerce & Industries Ministry of the Government of India at Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi.

The meeting was presided by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal and ministers of state for the concerned Ministry.

The issues relating to export and trade promotion especially in relation to removing procedural bottle necks, facilitating credit to exporters, ease of doing business, public procurement policy to promote internal trade and related matters were discussed with a view to resolve them in a time bound manner.

The principal secretary, Commerce & Industries Department, Dr Thomas Chandy, also attended the meeting. Suggestions relating to Nathula border trade and enhancement of agro-based export potential of the State were apprised at the meeting to the officials of the Ministry.
