Sikkim will host the 10th edition of North East Riders Meet from October 26 to 28 this year at Barfung in Rabongla in South Sikkim. Open Road Wanderers Motorcycle Club of Sikkim (ORWMCS) is gearing up to host the decadal edition of this mega event in the state in a grand manner. Sikkim is also hosting this event for the first time.

ORWMCS president, Naresh Chettri during a press conference here on Monday said ORWMCS was formed on December 18 in 2013 with the motto ‘Take a Ride Get a Life’.  ORWMCS has won the bid to host this popular and mega event in the state this year.

North East Riders Meet is an annual event hosted by Royal Enfield Riding community from the North Eastern states of India. Every year one of the NE states hosts this event with its motto ‘When We Meet We Grow’. The event is not restricted to members of Royal Enfield Clubs from NE states but is rather open to all solo Royal Enfield Riders and all Clubs Pan India.

Chettri said the club has a strong group of 68 riding members from all walks of life but with a common passion and strong bond.

“ORWMCS has been running a strong campaign to promote Sikkim as the ultimate riding destination since 2015. We ride with this message to every riding event across the Country,” Chettri said.

“This is an opportunity for us to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state. This event is also an opportunity for the Royal Enfield Riders of Sikkim to come and experience the cultural side of the riding community and understand the strong brotherhood bond,” he said.

The State Tourism has been guiding and helping the club for its grand success.

Registration will be done online only through the website of the club, www.northeastridersmeet.in and the link shall also be provided in the FB page of North East Riders Meet.

“The participant turnaround for this event is expected to be huge but due to geographically challenging terrains and lack of big open space we have planned to restrict the registration to 1200 maximum including the organising club,” he added.

The press conference was also attended by general secretary, Vincent Targain and executive members, Kailash Thapa, Amrit Raj Koirala and Moses Rai.

The three-day long meet will have different biking activities, ride to nearby cultural and tourism interested sites of the venue, performances by bands and other series of activities.
